RE: Swapping Out Roof Vent Boots With The Seasons - Worth The Hassle?
Swapping boots is a pain, but honestly, it’s saved me from way bigger headaches after storms. I’ve seen folks skip it and end up with attic mold or ruined insulation - way more hassle in the long run. Anyone else notice ...
RE: QUICK FIX FOR ROOF LEAKS: DOES A TARP REALLY HOLD UP?
I hear you on the tarp hassle - last spring, I had to scramble up during a hailstorm and ended up using sandbags and some old 2x4s to weigh things down. It worked okay for a couple days, but wind kept shifting it around....
RE: What’s on your roof? Quick poll: shingles, metal, tile, or something else?
I’ve wondered about those coatings too - some folks swear by them, but I haven’t seen a huge difference after storms. Maybe it helps a bit with heat? I’d be interested if anyone’s actually noticed lower temps or energy b...

I hear you on the split-cost clause - definitely feels fairer than just eating all the price hikes yourself. I’ve seen a few folks get burned trying to pre-purchase, especially after a storm when timelines shift and mate...

Had a similar experience recently - drone footage looked great, super detailed, but totally missed some flashing issues around the chimney. Only caught it when I climbed up myself. Wonder if drone tech will ever fully ca...
RE: Best ways to protect home from extreme weather combo?
Have you thought about installing storm shutters or impact-resistant windows? Regular windows can shatter pretty easily from flying debris (as you've unfortunately found out...). Might save you from another headache next...
RE: finally found a roofing company that didn't rip me off
That's a good point, but don't you think sometimes homeowners have a reason to panic? I mean, I've seen plenty of cases where folks shrugged off minor signs - like a little drip or a loose shingle - and ended up with way...
RE: found water pooling under sink, drain issues maybe?
Yeah, definitely agree with checking underneath for water damage. Slow leaks can really sneak up on you. Had a client recently whose little drip ended up causing mold issues behind the cabinet - nothing major, but still ...
