Placement’s huge too. If the strip isn’t close enough to the ridge or if it’s blocked by debris, you lose a lot of that runoff effect that’s supposed to kill off the algae.

Couldn’t agree more on the placement—seen too many “algae-resistant” setups fail just because someone thought halfway down the slope was close enough. Also, I’ll add: if you’re in a spot with heavy pollen or leaf drop, those zinc strips can get gunked up quick. A blocked strip is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Regular checks are key, even if it’s just a quick look from the ground after a storm.
