Roof Maintenance Costs Are Driving Me Crazy

I swear, every time I think I've got my finances sorted out, something else pops up. This time it's the roof. I mean, I knew owning a house meant upkeep and all that, but nobody warned me how expensive just keeping the roof from leaking could be. Had a guy come out last week to check on a small leak - turns out there's more damage than I thought, and now I'm looking at a pretty hefty bill. Feels like every year there's some new surprise expense related to the roof - shingles, gutters, flashing...you name it.

Honestly, I'm starting to wonder if it's just me or if roofs are secretly money pits for everyone. Like, is this normal? Or am I just unlucky with my house? Curious if other homeowners here have similar frustrations or if you've found ways to keep these costs down somehow.
