is regular roof upkeep worth it or better to wait and fix later?
I'm kinda stuck deciding whether it's smarter to pay for regular roof maintenance every year or just wait until something actually breaks and then deal with repairs. Maintenance seems like it could save money long-term, but then again, if nothing major happens for years, am I just throwing cash away? Curious what other folks have experienced - do you prefer routine upkeep or just cross your fingers and handle problems as they pop up?

I've seen people go both ways on this, but have you thought about it from a resale angle? Regular upkeep can actually help with your home's value - buyers tend to appreciate seeing maintenance records. Plus, smaller fixes can catch underlying problems early, which are usually cheaper than waiting for something major. Then again, roofs are pretty sturdy...maybe you could compromise and just do inspections every couple of years instead of annually?
Totally agree on the resale point - when we bought our first place, seeing those maintenance records was a huge relief. It showed the previous owners cared, you know? But honestly, even beyond resale, regular checks just make sense. We skipped inspections one year thinking we'd save money, and ended up with a sneaky leak that cost way more to fix later. Lesson learned...now I stick to inspections every couple years at least. Better safe than sorry.
