Which is better for camera rigs: gimbal stabilizers or manual shoulder mounts?

I’ve tried both on steep roofs and honestly, I just stick with my phone or a basic shoulder mount now. Gimbals are great for smooth shots, but when you’re up there with a harness and a bundle of shingles, the last thing you want is another gadget to worry about. Had a gimbal freeze up on me once in the middle of a hail inspection—ended up missing half the damage because I was fiddling with it. For quick documentation, a little shake doesn’t bother me. If I need something super clear for an adjuster, I’ll just take extra stills.
