Roof Jacks for Stable Footing: My Quick Method

I've been working on my roof lately and figured out a pretty decent way to set up roof jacks safely. First, I nail the jacks into the rafters (not just shingles, learned that the hard way, lol). Then I lay down a sturdy plank across them, double-check stability, and boom - solid footing. But um, anyone got a smarter or safer method?
