How much extra is reasonable for Landmark Pro?
Discussion options
I’m comparing two CertainTeed roof quotes and want to judge the Landmark Pro upgrade by the whole system, not just the shingle name.
The roof is approximately [roof size] square feet, with a [simple/moderate/complex] layout, [number] valleys, and [number] roof penetrations. The house is in [local climate], and I expect to stay here for about [number] years.
The quotes are:
- Landmark: $[amount] installed
- Landmark Pro: $[amount] installed
- Upgrade difference: $[amount], or $[amount] per roofing square
Before deciding, I’m asking both contractors to itemize whether each price includes:
- Tear-off and disposal
- CertainTeed starter strips
- Hip-and-ridge shingles
- Synthetic underlayment and ice-and-water protection
- Drip edge and flashing work
- Intake and ridge ventilation
- Permit, cleanup, and workmanship warranty
If the installation details are identical, how much extra would you consider reasonable for Landmark Pro? Is the main benefit usually the appearance and heavier construction, or do owners see enough practical durability to justify the premium?
