Went through something similar last summer, ended up choosing CertainTeed mainly because my installer recommended it. But honestly, after seeing my neighbor's Tamko roof hold up perfectly through that nasty storm we had in April, I'm convinced it's really about who puts it on. Warranty's comforting, sure, but a solid install job usually means you won't even think about it again...at least that's been my experience so far.

Went with CertainTeed myself about three years ago, mostly because I liked their eco-friendly options (big on sustainability here). But honestly, the installer made all the difference. My neighbor across the street has Tamko shingles, and they've held up just as well through storms and heavy snow. I'd say pick whichever brand you're leaning toward, but spend extra time vetting your installer—check reviews, ask for references, maybe even drive by some of their past jobs...that's what really counts in the long run.

Interesting point about the installer—I hadn't considered that angle much. I'm currently leaning toward CertainTeed myself, mainly due to their sustainability claims. Did you notice any significant difference in energy efficiency or indoor comfort after installation? Curious if that's noticeable in practice...

CertainTeed's sustainability angle is appealing, but honestly, the difference in indoor comfort or energy efficiency between shingle brands is usually minimal. Most of your home's insulation and ventilation performance comes down to attic insulation, venting setup, and proper installation—not really the shingles themselves. I've seen homeowners expecting big changes after switching brands, only to realize it's more about the overall roofing system. Just something to keep in mind...

Totally agree with this. When I bought my first home last year, I spent hours agonizing over shingle brands (Tamko vs CertainTeed included). In the end, my contractor gently reminded me that the shingles are just one piece of the puzzle. We upgraded attic insulation and improved venting instead—made a noticeable difference in comfort. So yeah, pick whichever brand you feel good about, but don't lose sleep over it...save that for mortgage payments, haha.
