- Gotta agree, metal holds up better under wild temperature swings.
-

“my uncle’s house sounds like a drumline during storms”
—that’s pretty accurate. The noise isn’t for everyone, but at least you know when it’s raining, right?
- I’ve seen plenty of shingle roofs with split tabs or corners after a couple rough winters, especially if the attic ventilation isn’t great.
- Metal’s not perfect—seen a few dented panels after hail, and installation’s gotta be solid or you’ll get leaks around fasteners.
- Still, chasing shingles after every windstorm gets old fast. If you can live with the sound, metal’s a fair tradeoff in my book.

That’s a good way to put it—chasing shingles after every storm really does get old. I’ve helped patch up more than a few after windy nights, and it’s never just one or two tabs either. Metal’s not perfect, like you said, but at least you’re not up there every spring with a bundle of replacements. The noise can be wild though... first time I heard hail on my buddy’s metal roof, I thought the world was ending. But honestly, if you’re tired of constant repairs, the tradeoff seems worth it.
