Had a bit of a frustrating experience lately with warranty claims and it got me thinking about the weird reasons companies come up with to deny them. Recently, I had two different products break down around the same timeβa laptop and a coffee machine (yeah, rough week). Both were still under warranty, so I figured no biggie, right?
Laptop company said my claim was denied because apparently there was "evidence of liquid damage." Um, I swear I've never spilled anything on itβI'm paranoid about that stuff. They sent me some blurry photo as "proof," but honestly, it looked like nothing to me.
Coffee machine folks said my warranty was voided because I'd used "non-approved cleaning solutions." Seriously? I just used regular vinegar and water like everyone else does. Didn't even know there was an "approved" list.
Anyway, got me wondering which is worse: companies claiming mysterious user-caused damage or nitpicking about using non-official products? Curious if anyone else has dealt with similar nonsense and which one you find more annoying or unfair.
