Static’s definitely a pain with both, but I’d say it’s more of an issue with nail clippings. Those things seem to stick to everything—rugs, socks, you name it. The roofing granules are just so gritty and heavy, they find every nook but don’t really cling the same way. I’ve found that a shop vac with a fine dust filter works better than a lint roller for shingle dust, though it’s still a never-ending job. The stuff in your boots? Pretty sure that’s just part of the deal...
Nail clippings are like the glitter of the hygiene world—once they’re loose, you’ll be finding them for days. I swear, I’ve vacuumed a whole apartment and still managed to step on a rogue clipping in my sock later. At least with roofing granules, you know where they’re coming from (usually the entryway or your boots). But nail clippings? They migrate. I’ve even found one in a light fixture once... don’t ask me how. Static just makes it worse—those things will hitch a ride on anything fuzzy.

Yeah, I get this. I thought moving into my own place would mean less random mess, but nail clippings have a way of proving me wrong every time. Even if I clip over a trash can, a couple always bounce off and end up somewhere totally illogical. Static is definitely a factor—if you’ve got carpet or even just socks on, they’ll stick to you and travel all over. Not sure there’s a perfect solution, but at least you’re not alone in the scavenger hunt.

This is way too real. I swear, I’ll be super careful, aim right at the bin, and then somehow find a rogue clipping on the other side of the room a week later. I’ve even tried clipping my nails in the bathtub (no water, just sitting in there), thinking it’d contain everything... but nope, still managed to miss a few. Static is definitely part of it, but sometimes I think they just have a mind of their own.
Honestly, I used to blame my old roommates for random clippings showing up, but now that I live alone, it’s clear I was just in denial. At least it’s not just me—makes me feel a little less gross about the whole thing. If anyone ever figures out a foolproof method, they deserve some kind of household Nobel Prize.
Yeah, I’ve tried the bathtub trick too and still ended up finding clippings in the hallway days later. I think they just launch themselves at weird angles no matter what. Static’s a pain, but honestly, sometimes I wonder if it’s just bad luck.
