I just spent the afternoon helping my brother-in-law sort through bundles of OC shingles for his roof project, and man, those labels can be confusing at first glance. Here's what we ended up doing: first, checked the color name and product code printed on the wrapper itself. Then we double-checked the warranty info listed to make sure it matched what he ordered. After that, we stacked each type separately so we wouldn't mix anything up. Does anyone have an easier or quicker way to manage this stuff?
Did you guys try marking each bundle with a quick spray of colored paint or chalk once sorted? I've found that helps a ton, especially if you're dealing with similar colors or warranty types... saves a lot of squinting at labels later.
- Tried the paint trick, works pretty well... until it rains or someone steps on them.
- Chalk washes off too quick for me, but maybe I'm just messy lol.
- Lately been using colored duct tapeβsticks better and easy to spot from a distance.
- Also, quick tip: snap a pic of labels with your phone before stacking bundles. Saved me from climbing down more than once.
