I hear you on the mesh covers—mine clogged up fast too, especially after a couple storms. I’m still figuring out the right routine. Has anyone tried those foam inserts instead? Wondering if they’re any less hassle or just another gimmick.

Tried the foam inserts last fall after getting tired of picking pine needles out of the mesh covers. They were easier to install, but honestly, they still got gunked up after a couple months, just in a different way—stuff sits on top and dries out, so you have to brush it off. Maybe better for bigger leaves than needles? Curious if anyone’s found something that actually works long-term, or if it’s just about cleaning them out every season no matter what.

I keep hoping there’s some magic fix, but seems like it’s just a never-ending battle. Tried those “never clean again” gutter guards—ended up with a squirrel nest and a waterfall off my porch. For pine needles, I think we’re stuck with the seasonal clean-out. Ever tried just running a leaf blower along the gutters? Not perfect, but way less hassle (and cheaper) than fancy inserts.
