So I'm about to redo my roof and the contractor suggested using GAF synthetic underlayment instead of the traditional felt stuff. Honestly, I didn't even know synthetic was a thing until now, lol. Did some quick googling and it seems like people are kinda split on this. Some say it's way better cuz it's lighter, tougher, and easier to install. Others say it's just marketing hype and not worth the extra cash.
I figured I'd toss up a quick poll here to see what you guys think:
Which roofing underlayment do you prefer or recommend?
- Synthetic (like GAF)
- Traditional felt
- Doesn't matter, whatever's cheapest
- Um...what's an underlayment? 😂
Feel free to drop your reasoning below too if you want. I'm leaning synthetic but still kinda undecided, you know? Just wanna make sure I'm not falling for some fancy marketing trick before I shell out extra cash.
