Good points on ventilationβ€”I never connected airflow to hail damage either, but it makes sense now that you mention it. I always thought shingles were shingles, y'know? But after seeing my neighbor's roof get shredded while mine barely had a scratch (same storm), I'm convinced installation is half the battle. Wonder if there's a way to casually ask your roofer if he's a "high nailer" without sounding weird...

Funny you mention that "high nailer" thingβ€”I had no clue what it meant until my roofer casually dropped the term during an inspection. I just nodded along like I knew exactly what he was talking about, then googled it later, lol. But yeah, after seeing how my roof held up compared to my cousin's (same neighborhood, same storm), I'm starting to think installation really is key. Still skeptical about the ventilation angle though... airflow affecting hail damage seems a bit of a stretch to me.
