Been doing some digging around town lately, thinking about redoing my roof before winter hits. I'm pretty set on GAF shingles cause I've heard good things from neighbors and online reviews. But now I'm stuck between just grabbing them from a big box store like Home Depot or Lowes, or going with one of the smaller local roofing suppliers around here.
The big box stores seem convenient and prices look decent enough, plus I can just swing by anytime. But I've read a few things online saying sometimes their stock isn't as fresh or they don't have as wide of a selection. Local suppliers supposedly have better quality control, fresher stock, and more specialized knowledge...but I'm guessing they might cost a bit more?
Honestly, I'm kinda torn. If anyone has gone either route, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Is it worth paying a little extra for the local guys, or is the convenience and price of the big box stores good enough?
