I hear you on the RO taste—some folks swear by it, but honestly, I think a lot of it’s just what you get used to. I’ve managed a few buildings where people were obsessed with their RO setups, but the maintenance headaches always seemed to outweigh the benefits. Those under-sink leaks are no joke... I’ve seen more warped cabinets than I care to admit.

Switching to UF in my own place was a game changer. Less hassle, fewer parts to break, and I don’t have to keep a stash of towels under the sink anymore. As for the “robust” filtration, unless your city water is truly sketchy, UF does a solid job for most stuff. RO strips out everything—including minerals your plants actually want. I had a tenant who couldn’t figure out why her ferns kept dying until she switched to tap or UF water.

If you’re really worried, maybe get your water tested first. But in my experience, unless you’re dealing with well water or something really off, UF is plenty for day-to-day use. And your plants will thank you.
