Ended up using the loop for my water bottle when I’m up on a steep pitch. Not perfect, but better than chasing gloves.

Tried that too, but my bottle kept swinging and whacking my knee every step. These days, I just shove a handful of roofing nails in there—easy access, but you do NOT want to forget about them when you sit down... trust me.

Man, I’ve done the “nail surprise” before—brutal.
- Water bottle in the loop? Better than nothing, but yeah, it’s like a pendulum of annoyance.
- Honestly, I just use mine for snacks now. Granola bars don’t jab you in the thigh or poke holes in your jeans... usually.
- Respect for creative problem solving though. Roof life keeps us on our toes (and sometimes our butts).

I’ve definitely caught myself sitting down with a handful of screws in the loop—never again. I tried hanging my tape measure there for a while, but it just kept smacking into my knee every time I moved. Has anyone actually found a comfortable way to carry a water bottle? Mine always ends up swinging around and hitting the ladder. Snacks sound safer, but I’d probably forget and end up with a melted chocolate bar in July... Wondering if anyone’s managed to use it for something less annoying, or is it just destined to be a catch-all for random stuff?

That’s exactly how I ended up with a pocket full of sticky granola last summer. I hear you on the water bottle too—mine’s dented from banging into everything. Honestly, I’ve just started using the loop for a rag or gloves. Not glamorous, but at least they don’t jab me in the leg or melt all over the place. I keep thinking there’s gotta be a clever use, but so far, it’s mostly just a glorified junk holder for me too.

- Totally get the “glorified junk holder” vibe.

- I tried hanging my tape measure there—kept smacking my knee, so that was short-lived.
- Ended up using it for a little bag of roofing nails. Surprisingly handy, even if I did spill them once or twice...
- On green roofs, I’ll sometimes clip a trowel or hand cultivator through the loop. Not perfect, but better than losing tools in the sedum.
- Snacks are risky, but dried fruit’s less messy than chocolate. Just saying.
