Tried using the hammer loop for my tape measure once—thought I was being clever. Five minutes later, it had Houdini’d itself loose and clattered down a flight of stairs. Nearly gave the electrician a heart attack. I’ve also attempted to hang my gloves there, but they just end up dragging in the mud or getting caught on every ladder rung. At this point, I’m convinced the loop is secretly plotting against anything that isn’t a hammer. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d rather risk losing my water bottle than my kneecap...
I get the frustration, but I’ve actually had better luck with the loop for my chalk line—keeps it handy and doesn’t seem to escape as easily as a tape measure. Maybe it’s just the weight? Gloves are a lost cause though, totally agree there.

You nailed it—gloves just never stay put, no matter what I try. I’ve actually started clipping my utility knife to the loop instead of a hammer half the time. Chalk line’s a smart move too, especially since those things are always rolling off somewhere... I think you’re right about the weight making a difference. For me, anything heavier than a tape measure just seems to sit better in the loop. Funny how something so basic can be such a game-changer when you’re trying not to lose tools every five minutes.
I keep trying to stash my gloves in the loop too, but they’re always on the ground within five minutes. I’ve had better luck with my speed square—just slides right in and actually stays put, plus it’s easy to grab when I need it. The only thing I don’t love is when I forget it’s there and sit down... not the most comfortable surprise. I’m still not convinced there’s a perfect use for that loop, but it’s definitely more versatile than I thought.

Can definitely relate. Tried keeping a chalk line in mine once—bad idea, it just spun around and dumped blue dust everywhere. Ended up using the loop for my water bottle when I’m up on a steep pitch. Not perfect, but better than chasing gloves.
