Last weekend I climbed up to check out the roof vents and those rubber pipe boot things. I usually eyeball them first for cracks or obvious damage, then gently poke around the edges with a screwdriver to see if they're still flexible or brittle. If they're stiff or cracked, I know it's time to replace. Pretty straightforward, but I'm wondering if there's a better way or some trick I'm missing?
