Last weekend I finally got around to cleaning off all the branches, leaves, and random junk that'd built up on my roof over the past year. Thought it'd be quick, but um, nope—took me hours and nearly slipped like three times, lol. Also found a frisbee that definitely isn't mine, no clue how it got up there. Has anyone else had weird surprises or adventures when cleaning off their roof?
Cleaning roofs is always trickier than people think. Next time, try starting with a leaf blower to clear off the loose stuff first—saves a ton of time. Also, footwear matters more than you'd expect; shoes with good grip can prevent those close calls you mentioned. And about the frisbee...probably wind or kids messing around nearby. I've found everything from tennis balls to random shingles that definitely weren't mine up there. Roofs collect weird stuff, no doubt about it.
Leaf blower's a neat idea, but have you ever had trouble with it blowing stuff into your gutters? Last time I tried that, I ended up spending twice as long fishing leaves out of the gutters afterward. Maybe my technique was off... or maybe my roof angle is just weird?
Totally agree about footwear though—learned that lesson the hard way after slipping around in old sneakers. But speaking of random roof finds, frisbees and tennis balls are pretty tame. Ever found anything truly bizarre up there? Once discovered a single flip-flop... still wondering how someone managed to lose just one shoe on my roof.

I wouldn't worry too much—I'm still figuring out the leaf blower method myself. Ended up chasing leaves around the yard instead. Also, found an old remote control car up there... no clue how that happened.
- Leaf blowers can be tricky on roofs—angle and wind direction matter a lot.
- Personally, I prefer using a rake or broom; better control and fewer surprises.
- Found random tennis balls and once even a small bird's nest tucked behind the chimney flashing.
- Be careful with slipping hazards; moss buildup can make things unexpectedly slick.
