"Had a job last summer, homeowner picked some cheaper imported tiles—looked great at first, but started flaking and cracking after just two winters."

Seen it too many times myself. But curious, anyone had experience with MCA tiles? Heard mixed reviews—durable but tough to source replacement pieces...

- MCA tiles are solid overall, seen them hold up pretty well in harsh conditions.
- Agree they're a pain when you need replacements—had a job last fall, homeowner cracked a few during solar panel install, took weeks to track down matching pieces.
- If you're looking for reliability AND easier sourcing, Eagle and Boral are usually safer bets.
- Eagle especially has solid color consistency and availability, never had major issues getting replacements quickly.
- But yeah, steer clear of those cheap imports... tempting price tag but always ends up costing more in the long run.

Totally agree on Eagle tiles, they've been great for me too. Had a branch crash down in a storm last year and cracked a few tiles—got replacements within days, no hassle at all. Definitely worth the peace of mind over cheaper options...

Glad to hear Eagle's working out for you. As a first-time homeowner, I initially hesitated because of the higher upfront cost—almost went with a cheaper brand—but honestly, hearing stories like yours makes me feel better about my choice. Haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood...), but knowing replacements are hassle-free is reassuring. Sometimes paying a bit extra really does save headaches down the road.

You're spot on about the upfront costs often being justified by fewer issues later. I've seen plenty of neighbors regret going cheaper after just a few years—cracked tiles, leaks, you name it. Eagle's reputation for durability and ease of replacement is solid, so I think you've made a wise choice. Plus, tile roofs generally hold up well in harsh weather conditions, which is a huge bonus if you're in an area prone to storms or heavy winds. Sounds like you're set for the long haul.
