Glad to hear the ridge vents worked out well for you. Even if attic temps haven't dropped dramatically, the cleaner roofline alone is a nice bonus. Plus, fewer holes mean fewer potential leaks down the road... always a win in my book.

Good points about the ridge vents—cleaner rooflines definitely make a difference. One thing I've noticed is that attic temps might not drop dramatically right away, but over time, proper ventilation can help extend shingle life and prevent moisture buildup. Have you checked if your insulation is up to par? Sometimes pairing good ventilation with improved insulation can really boost efficiency. Either way, fewer holes and potential leaks is always a solid step forward... sounds like you're on the right track.

Ridge vents are great, but honestly, they're not always the budget-friendly option they're cracked up to be. I've had decent luck with traditional box vents—cheaper upfront and still effective if placed right. Just gotta weigh your priorities... aesthetics vs. savings.

Totally agree with this. Box vents definitely get overlooked sometimes, but honestly, if they're placed correctly, they can do a solid job. I helped a buddy redo his roof last summer, and he went with box vents to keep costs down. At first, he was worried they'd look kinda bulky, but once everything was installed, you barely noticed them from the street. Plus, the attic stayed cool and dry all year round, so they definitely did their job.

Ridge vents are nice, sure—but they aren't always worth stretching your budget for. It's smart to consider what really matters most to you and your wallet. Good luck with your CertainTeed project... sounds like you're on the right track already.

Good points on the box vents. I went with ridge vents myself because our roofline was pretty visible from the street, and aesthetics mattered a bit more to us. But honestly, looking back, I'm not sure the extra cost was totally justified. Curious—did your buddy notice any difference in noise levels during heavy rain or wind with the box vents? Heard mixed things about that...
