We switched to eco-friendly shingles about two years ago, and honestly, the difference in our energy bills has been pretty modest. Insulation upgrades made a bigger impact for us...might wanna consider that first if energy savings is your main goal.
Yeah, insulation definitely packs more punch for energy savings. If you're set on shingles though, maybe look at reflective ones—my neighbor installed those and says they help a bit more, especially in hot climates...worth checking out anyway.
