RE: When hail meets metal: a suburban legend
That’s a good point about the difference between cosmetic dents and actual finish damage. I’ve seen folks ignore those tiny chips, too, and it’s always the same story - looks fine at first, but then you get that streaky ...
RE: When sparks fly: imagining a wildfire-proof neighborhood
I hear you on the defensible space vs. materials debate - it’s kind of both, honestly. Clearing brush and keeping gutters clean is huge, but after seeing a few houses with metal roofs come through fires basically untouch...
RE: Thinking about replacing my roof - are shingles really worth it?
That’s a really fair way to put it. Every roof material has its own quirks, and it honestly comes down to what you’re willing to live with. If you’re tired of the “ping-ping” noise from metal during storms, shingles will...

RE: LOOKING FOR GOOD PLACES TO BUY METAL ROOFING SHEETS
I've had pretty good luck ordering metal roofing online, but yeah, shipping can be tricky. One thing that helped me was calling the supplier directly - sometimes they'll work with you on freight costs or suggest a cheape...
RE: Will new solar panels mess up my old roof?
Yeah, debris buildup is definitely something to keep an eye on. Usually, it's leaves and twigs getting stuck under the edges of the panels - nothing too major, but it can cause water pooling if left unchecked. I'd recomm...
RE: Roof checkups saved me big bucks - anyone else?
That's a good point about green roofs - I've seen some tricky drainage issues myself. But honestly, even traditional roofs can spring surprises without regular checks. Ever dealt with unexpected storm damage on a "simple...
