Sometimes I wish roofs came with a crystal ball...
Tell me about it. I’ve crawled into more attics than I care to admit, and it’s always the “just one more layer” jobs where you find the weirdest stuff—like mystery stains or 1970s beer cans wedged behind rafters. Anyone ever regret *not* doing the tear-off, or is it just me seeing all the horror stories?
I get the appeal of a full tear-off, but honestly, my wallet just couldn’t justify it. We went with a second layer on our old ranch and it’s held up fine for years—no leaks, no weird smells. Sure, you miss some hidden junk, but sometimes the “horror stories” are just that… stories. If the structure’s solid and you’re not seeing moisture issues, why rip everything off?
