Swapping Out Roof Vent Boots With The Seasons—Worth The Hassle?

Weirdly, I’ve had the opposite experience with recycled flashing—mine cracked along the seam after one winter, but maybe that’s just our insane freeze-thaw cycles up here. Do you find certain brands hold up better, or is it all about the install?

I’ve noticed the same thing with recycled flashing, especially in spots that get hammered by sun and then freeze up hard. I’m not convinced it’s just the install—some brands just seem more brittle, at least up here where temps swing like crazy. I’d say it’s a mix, but I wouldn’t trust the cheaper stuff for a second winter.
