I hear you, but honestly, I’ve seen even the pricier silicone boots split after a couple of brutal hailstorms—especially on older asphalt roofs. Sometimes, it’s less about the material and more about how well the flashing is integrated with the shingles. If there’s any gap or wrinkle, water finds its way in eventually. I’d argue that regular seasonal checks are more important than the boot material itself. Caught a tiny crack last fall before it turned into a leak—saved me a ton of hassle.
