I get where you're coming from, but I haven’t actually seen much difference in attic temps since we switched to impact shingles—at least not here in the Midwest. Maybe it depends more on how well the attic’s ventilated than the shingle thickness? I’ve seen folks with metal roofs still get ice dams too, so I’m not totally convinced it’s just about the shingle type. Anyone else notice that?
