ice barriers driving me nuts - anyone else confused?
Seriously, every winter I stare at my roof and driveway wondering if I'm even putting these ice barrier things in the right spots. Instructions are vague, and online advice is all over the place. Anyone else scratching their head over this?

The vague instructions aren’t necessarily the problem; the bigger issue is treating ice barriers as a standard strip in the same location on every roof. Placement should follow the roof’s eave and valley details, plus the applicable local code. Valleys, low-slope sections, heated eaves, and areas where snow can back up often need different coverage than a simple straight eave. Check the code-required width and extend the membrane through valleys and around penetrations as specified, rather than relying on a fixed “one-size-fits-all” layout.
