I recently found out that roof decking is basically the wooden layer beneath your shingles that supports the roof structure...who knew, right? If you're checking your roof, tap lightlyβ€”hollow sounds might mean trouble brewing underneath. Curious if anyone has other roof-checking tricks or tips?

One thing I usually do is look at the roof from inside the atticβ€”sounds weird, but hear me out. Grab a flashlight, head up there, and scan for any daylight sneaking through. If you spot sunlight peeking in, that's a red flag for sure. Also, check for dark stains or mold spots on the wood...those mean moisture's getting in somewhere. Beats climbing up a ladder every time, especially if heights aren't your jam.
