Just got done replacing my old asphalt shingles with some really nice clay tiles. Took forever to decide between shingles, shakes, or tiles, but went with tiles cuz I wanted something durable and low-maintenance. Honestly, the house looks amazing now, neighbors even stopped by to compliment it, haha. Curious if anyone else recently switched roofing materials and how it turned out for you?

- Congrats on the new roof, sounds like it turned out great!

Totally get that, but we recently switched from tiles to metal roofing and honestly, it's been a game changer.
- Tiles looked awesome but we had some cracking issues after a rough hailstorm...ended up being pricier than expected to fix.
- Metal's been super durable so far, plus the rain sound is kinda soothing, haha.
- Just something to consider down the line if durability is your main thing.

Tiles definitely have their perks, especially in terms of aesthetics, but I've seen similar issues with cracking after storms. Metal roofs can be great, but if anyone's considering switching later on, just make sure your attic insulation is solidβ€”metal roofs transfer heat differently. Also, adding a good underlayment can help dampen that rain noise if it ever gets too loud.

Totally agree though, that rain tapping can be oddly relaxing...
