Why does cleaning up nail clippings always turn into a scavenger hunt?

I get the static thing, but honestly, I think the paper towel trick is more hassle than it’s worth. Every time I try it, I end up just smearing the clippings around or missing half of them. What’s worked better for me is clipping over a sheet of printer paper - just fold it up and dump the whole mess in the trash. Not perfect, but at least I’m not chasing bits across the floor. Maybe it’s just my luck, but vacuums always seem to make it worse... especially if there’s any static at all.

Funny you mention vacuums making it worse - I’ve seen that too, especially with those lightweight clippings that seem to have a mind of their own. Static can really mess with cleanup, especially on laminate or vinyl floors. I’ve had better luck using a slightly damp microfiber cloth to pick up the stragglers after the main sweep. Printer paper’s a solid idea, though - at least it keeps things contained. Still, I swear half of them end up under the baseboard no matter what I do...

Baseboards are the worst for this. I’ve seen clippings wedged behind radiators and even inside floor vents during inspections. Static electricity seems to pull them in, and once they’re down there, good luck. I started using a handheld vacuum right after clipping - still not perfect, but it helps.
