Roof checkups saved me big bucks—anyone else?

Had a similar experience myself—drone pics looked great, but when I climbed up later, found a bunch of shingles practically crumbling under my feet. Glad I caught it early... saved me from a way bigger headache down the road. Drones are cool, but nothing beats boots on the roof.

- Fair point, but climbing up yourself isn't always practical (or safe) for everyone.
- Wonder if pairing drone checks with occasional pro inspections might be a good middle ground...
- Curious if anyone's tried that combo approach?

Drone checks paired with occasional pro inspections actually work pretty well from what I've seen. Had a few clients try it out after storms, and it definitely caught issues early without breaking the bank. You're right though, climbing up yourself isn't always the safest bet—especially if you're not used to heights or ladders. Good thinking on finding that middle ground...seems like a smart way to stay proactive without risking your neck.

I've been thinking about trying drone inspections myself, especially after the last storm knocked a few shingles loose. Usually, I just eyeball things from the ground or climb halfway up the ladder (which my wife hates, lol). But drones seem like they'd give a way better view without the risk. Did you find it easy to spot smaller issues clearly with the drone footage? I'm curious if it's straightforward enough for someone who's not exactly a roofing expert to catch potential problems early.

Drone inspections are definitely a step up from ladder balancing acts—I started using one last summer after a close call with a wobbly ladder (long story, wife wasn't thrilled either...). Honestly, the footage quality surprised me. Even small cracks or slightly lifted shingles stood out clearly enough to catch early. Sure, you might second-guess yourself at first, but after a couple rounds you'll spot issues quickly. It's saved me headaches and probably some cash, too. Worth giving it a shot if you ask me.
