I've got a modified bitumen roof that's starting to show its age a bit, and I'm thinking about sealing it up to squeeze a few more years out of it. I've been looking into acrylic coatings vs silicone coatings, and honestly, I'm kinda stuck. Acrylic seems cheaper and easier to apply, but silicone supposedly lasts longer and handles ponding water better. Anyone have experience with either one? Curious which you'd pick and why...

Good pointsβ€”silicone definitely has the edge if ponding is an issue. I've seen acrylic coatings break down pretty quickly when water pools regularly. But silicone can be trickier to recoat later on because nothing sticks well to cured silicone... Have you checked how your roof drains? If ponding isn't a big concern, acrylic might save you some hassle down the line.
