I can totally relate to this. When we bought our place (built in 2017), I just assumed everything was up to code and done right. Fast forward to last winter - ice dams galore, and when I poked my head into the attic, the insulation was damp in spots. Turns out, there were only two tiny vents at the soffit and nothing up top.
