Just saw a local news story about this family whose roof caved in after a recent storm—turns out they hadn't checked it for years. Made me realize, um, I can't even remember the last time I had mine looked at. Kinda scary to think about, you know? Wondering if anyone else caught that story or has had similar close calls with their roofs lately.

Yeah, I caught that story too—pretty wild. Honestly though, I've seen roofs that haven't been checked in decades hold up just fine, and then others that were inspected regularly still end up leaking after one bad storm. Go figure.

Reminds me of when my uncle insisted his roof was "good as new" because it survived some big storm back in the 90s. Fast forward to a couple years ago, he found himself with buckets scattered around the living room during a mild rain shower. Turns out shingles don't exactly age like fine wine... who knew?

Anyway, not saying inspections aren't important—they definitely are—but sometimes it's just luck of the draw. Still probably better safe than sorry, especially if your roof's older than your favorite pair of jeans.
