is it just me or are roofs wearing out faster these days?

Had my roof redone about 12 years ago, and honestly, it looks rougher now than the one I replaced at 20 years. Pretty sure the crew rushed it, plus the underlayment they used was some generic stuff—lesson learned there.

Yeah, seems like a lotta materials these days just aren't made like they used to be. But honestly, your issue sounds more like installation than product quality. Had a similar thing happen with siding once—cheap underlayment, rushed work... frustrating stuff.

Yeah, I feel your pain there. Had my roof redone about five years ago, and at first I thought the shingles were just garbage quality. Turns out the contractor cut corners on ventilation and flashing—classic rushed job. Once I got someone reliable to fix it properly, it's been solid ever since. Materials might not be what they used to be, sure, but proper installation makes a huge difference. Hang in there... you'll get it sorted eventually.

Yep, that's usually the culprit. I've seen roofs with premium shingles fail in under 10 years just because someone skipped proper venting or skimped on flashing details. Honestly, even mid-range materials can hold up fine if installed right. It's frustrating because homeowners often blame the shingles first, but installation quality makes or breaks a roof more often than not. Glad you got yours sorted properly... makes all the difference.

Yeah, cutting corners on flashing and ventilation is way too common. I've helped tear off roofs that looked great from the outside but were rotting underneath because moisture had nowhere to go. It's crazy how much difference proper venting makes—seen basic shingles last decades when done right. Glad you caught it early enough to fix properly... saves a ton of headaches down the road.
