Totally agree about clarifying warranty details upfront. But honestly, even with clear warranties, I've found it can still turn into a blame game. Had a similar issue with my last roof—installer insisted the flashing was fine, manufacturer said shingles were good, and somehow it ended up being "improper attic insulation." Who knew insulation could cause leaks?

One thing I've learned the hard way: document everything from day one. Take photos during installation, save emails, keep receipts... because when something goes wrong, everyone suddenly has selective memory. Also, don't underestimate the value of a third-party inspection. Yeah, it costs a bit extra upfront, but having an independent expert's opinion can really help cut through the back-and-forth if things go south.

Roofing issues are frustrating enough without playing detective trying to figure out who's actually responsible.

Good points about documentation and third-party inspections, but honestly, insulation issues causing leaks isn't as uncommon as you'd think. I've seen plenty of cases where poor attic ventilation or insulation leads to condensation buildup—looks exactly like a roof leak from inside. Not saying that's always the case, but sometimes the installer and manufacturer aren't just passing the buck. Roofing can be tricky; it's not always black-and-white who's at fault.

Yeah, good call on the insulation angle. Had a similar scare last winter—thought for sure I had a roof leak, but turned out my attic insulation was uneven and ventilation wasn't up to par. Roofing warranties really can feel like roulette sometimes...

Yeah, no kidding. Seen plenty of cases where folks panicked over leaks that ended up being ventilation or insulation issues. Good move checking attic conditions first—saved yourself some headaches down the road.

Ha, roofing warranties can definitely feel like a gamble sometimes. Had a leak scare myself last spring—turned out the shingles were fine, but the flashing around the chimney was shot. Warranty didn't cover it, of course. But hey, learned a valuable lesson about checking those sneaky spots regularly. Good call on the attic inspection though, that's usually where trouble starts brewing before you ever see it downstairs...
