Good tips overall, but honestly, if you're buying from a reputable supplier, you shouldn't have to go through all that trouble inspecting every sheet. Sure, a quick glance for obvious issues makes sense, but flipping sheets and tapping edges seems excessive if you're dealing with quality stock. I'd say spend a bit more time upfront finding a reliable seller—someone local with a solid rep—and you'll save yourself a lot of hassle down the road.

Fair point, but even reputable suppliers can have off days or shipping mishaps. When I got my roofing sheets, one batch had minor dents from transport—nothing major, but glad I caught it early. A quick check never hurts...better safe than sorry, right?

True, inspections are crucial, but even then, minor dents or scratches might slip through unnoticed initially. I've seen cases where small imperfections led to corrosion issues down the line, especially in coastal areas. Did you end up applying any protective coatings or treatments after noticing those dents? Curious if others here take preventive measures for minor transit damages or just leave them as-is.

Minor dents can be annoying, but honestly, protective coatings might be overkill for small transit scratches. I've had sheets with minor imperfections installed for years without issues—especially if they're quality galvanized or coated sheets to begin with. Just my two cents though...

I see what you're saying, and I mostly agree—small imperfections aren't usually a huge deal, especially if the sheets are solid quality to start with. But as someone who's just gone through the process of buying metal roofing for the first time (and trust me, it was an adventure...), I can tell you that those little dents and scratches can feel like a bigger deal when you're new to all this. When you're standing there looking at your brand-new roof and noticing every tiny flaw, it's hard not to second-guess yourself.

I ended up going with galvanized sheets from a local supplier because their prices were decent and delivery was quick. They did have a few minor scratches from transport, nothing major, but I couldn't help wondering—would these little scratches eventually lead to rust or other issues down the road? The supplier assured me they'd be fine, and so far they've held up nicely through some pretty heavy rains. Still, part of me wonders if a protective coating would've given me more peace of mind.

So now I'm curious about something else: does anyone have experience with how these minor transit scratches actually hold up long-term in harsher climates? I'm in an area with pretty wet winters and humid summers, and while my roof's okay now, I'm kind of wondering if I should've splurged for something extra protective. Is it really worth paying more upfront to avoid potential headaches later on, or am I just overthinking this whole thing (as usual)?

Would appreciate hearing some thoughts or experiences on this.
