Good call on the PVDF coating. Polyester coatings can definitely lull people into a false sense of security—seen it plenty of times myself. One bad hailstorm or a particularly icy winter, and suddenly you're dealing with peeling and fading way sooner than expected. PVDF costs a bit more upfront, but it's the kind of upgrade you'll thank yourself for later... especially if you hate climbing ladders as much as I do, haha.

Definitely agree PVDF's the way to go—seen way too many roofs take a beating with polyester coatings, especially after storms. On that note, if you're shopping around, I'd suggest checking out local roofing supply places first. Big box stores are okay, but local suppliers often have better deals and more color options. Plus, they're usually cool about giving you tips on installation or recommending reliable contractors. Saved me a headache more than once... and fewer ladder trips is always a win, lol.

True, local places can be great, but honestly, as a first-timer, I found it helpful to compare both. Big box stores sometimes have clearer pricing upfront, which saved me from awkward newbie questions... just my two cents.

Good point about pricing clarity, but I've found local suppliers usually have more flexibility if something goes wrong or you need a quick replacement. Big stores can be a bit rigid with returns or exchanges... something to keep in mind, especially for larger orders.

Fair point about local suppliers being more flexible, though I've seen some smaller places struggle with inventory—especially after storms when everyone's scrambling for replacements. Have you found local suppliers reliable in keeping stock during peak demand? I've had mixed experiences; sometimes big stores, despite their rigid policies, at least have the volume to handle sudden spikes. Curious how others have fared with this...
