- Clean gutters every October and again after Thanksgiving - before and after the big leaf drop.
- Use a wet/dry vac with a gutter nozzle attachment - way faster than scooping by hand, especially on the single-story side.
- After cleaning, I flush with the hose to make sure downspouts aren’t clogged.
- Still get some small stuff, but no standing water or overflow since starting this routine.

Honestly, it’s a pain but I’d rather deal with a couple afternoons up on the ladder than risk water damage inside. My neighbor swears by those “reverse curve” gutter covers but they’re pricey and I’m not ready to commit yet. If anyone actually finds something that keeps out all the junk *and* lasts more than a season, I’m all ears... but for now it’s just regular maintenance for me.
