So yesterday I'm out back grilling burgers, minding my own business, when I notice my neighbor up on his flat roof again. He's always tinkering up there, but this time he's rolling out some kind of membrane-looking stuff. Later he tells me it's supposed to keep his house cooler and save energy. Cool, right? But then he jokes that it might also attract aliens because it's reflective or something...and now I can't stop imagining UFOs landing on his roof at night. Um, anyone else got a funny or weird story about roofs?

Haha, that's great. Reminds me of when I first moved into my place. The previous owner had installed these weird reflective shingles that were supposed to help with energy bills. First night there, the moonlight bouncing off the roof made my backyard look like a sci-fi movie set. Took me a week to stop checking outside every time I heard a noise...

Those reflective shingles can definitely catch you off guard at first. They're usually coated with aluminum or ceramic granules that bounce sunlight away, lowering attic temps and cutting cooling costs. Great for efficiency, but yeah...they can make your house look like Area 51 at night.
