Honestly, I think half the fun of roofing is figuring out these little hacks. I’ve used my hammer loop for everything from a caulk gun to a roll of flashing tape. Once even stuck a sandwich in there during a long day—wouldn’t recommend that one, unless you like lint.

Been there with the sandwich, except mine was a granola bar and it came out looking like it’d been through a dryer. Still ate it, but yeah… not my proudest moment.

I’ll admit, I’ve gotten a little too creative with the hammer loop over the years. One time I wedged a cordless drill in there because I was halfway across a steep roof and didn’t want to crawl back for my pouch. Not the safest move—drill nearly took a nosedive when I bent over to grab a shingle bundle. Lesson learned: hammer loops are not made for power tools, unless you like living on the edge.

About those side loops, I always figured they were for holding a cat’s paw or maybe a small pry bar, but honestly, I usually end up threading my gloves through them when I need to use my phone. Not sure if that’s what they’re for, but it works in a pinch.

If anyone’s managed to use those loops for something actually clever, I’d be impressed. Otherwise, they’re just extra places for me to lose stuff.
