Goggles are still a pain though—haven’t found a fix for that yet.

I hear you on the goggles. I’ve tried anti-fog sprays and even the ones with vents, but they all end up fogging or slipping down my nose when I’m working up a sweat. Haven’t cracked that one either.

On the gloves, I’ve noticed the newer reusable ones have definitely improved. Used to be they’d get stiff and crumbly after a few uses, but I’ve had a couple pairs last me months now, especially if I rinse them out and let them dry properly. Disposables just rip too easily for anything more than light jobs. Still, sometimes it feels like a toss-up—depends what you’re doing, I guess.

Kind of funny how something as basic as gloves and goggles can be such a hassle... but I guess that’s just part of tackling projects around the house. Glad you’ve found a pair that works for you; gives me hope my next set might last!

Honestly, I’ve just accepted that foggy goggles are part of the job, especially up on a roof in the sun. The only thing that’s helped me is switching to the kind with a foam gasket and an adjustable strap—less slipping, but still not perfect. As for gloves, I’m with you: disposables are useless for anything rough. I’ll take a solid pair of nitrile-coated reusables any day, even if they get a bit funky after a while.

- Totally agree on the goggles—mine fog up even when I’m just mowing the lawn, let alone doing anything more intense.
- Tried anti-fog spray once, but honestly, it just made a mess and didn’t last long.
- The foam gasket style is better for dust, but I still get sweat pooling around my eyes if it’s hot out. Maybe that’s just me?
- For gloves, I’ve gone through so many cheap disposables... they rip after like five minutes if you’re grabbing anything rough.
- Nitrile-coated reusables are way sturdier, but yeah, they start to smell funky after a few uses. I toss mine in with the work clothes laundry and that helps a bit.
- Anyone ever try those “breathable” gloves? I got a pair at the hardware store—felt nice at first but didn’t hold up to pulling weeds or handling lumber.
- Still looking for something that protects but doesn’t make my hands sweat buckets. Not sure there’s a perfect answer, but at least reusables don’t end up in the trash as fast.

I get the frustration with sweaty goggles and gloves that never seem to last. But I’ve actually had better luck with some of the “eco” disposables—there’s a brand made from plant-based materials that breaks down faster, and they’re surprisingly tough for yard work. Not perfect, but I feel less guilty tossing them. For goggles, I started using a cheap foam nose bridge strip (like the ones for masks) and it cut down on fogging a lot, even when I’m up on a roof in the sun. Might be worth a shot if you haven’t tried it.
