I swear, I’ve tried airing mine out on the dash—just ends up with sun-baked funk.

That’s the worst, right? I’ve tossed gloves in the back seat hoping they’d “air out” but it just bakes the smell in deeper. I get what you mean about cut-resistant gloves too—sometimes they’re more for show than actual protection. Have you tried any of those thin nitrile-coated ones? They’re not perfect, but I find they breathe a bit better in the heat. Still, nothing’s solved the sweaty-hands problem for me either. At least with glasses, you know when you’ve lost them... gloves just seem to multiply under my truck seats.

Those nitrile-coated gloves are about the only thing I’ll wear in summer—at least you can still grip stuff without your hands turning into a swamp. I just wish they lasted longer; mine seem to tear after a week or two. Ever tried washing them, or do you just toss 'em? I’ve got a pile that’s probably half landfill by now... Not sure reusable wins out if they don’t hold up.

I hear you on the landfill guilt—my glove graveyard is getting out of hand too. I’ve tried washing the nitrile ones a couple times, just a quick rinse and air dry, but honestly they seemed to get stiffer and more prone to tearing after that. Maybe it’s the heat or just how thin they’re made now? I keep hoping there’s a “tough” version out there that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Still, they’re way better than sweating through leather in July...

Yeah, I totally get what you mean about the glove graveyard. I’ve got a whole bag of single gloves that survived but lost their partner, and it feels wasteful tossing them. I tried rinsing nitrile too—

“they seemed to get stiffer and more prone to tearing after that.”
Same here. I guess they’re just not meant to be reused, which is a bummer. Still, like you said, way better than sweaty leather in the summer heat. If you ever find a “tough” affordable version, let us know… I’ve been on the hunt for ages.

That glove graveyard is real. I’ve got a whole drawer of left-hand survivors and mystery singles—feels like the sock situation, just with more chemical stains. I hear you on rinsing nitrile; I tried it out of desperation last summer, thinking I’d get an extra day or two, but they just got brittle and tore at the fingertips. Not worth the hassle.

I’ve bounced between those blue disposables and the thicker “reusable” ones from the hardware store, but even those don’t last long if you’re scraping shingles or handling rough edges. The only thing that’s held up better for me are those coated fabric gloves (the ones with the rubber palm), but they get hot fast when you’re up on a roof in July. Still, I’d rather deal with a little sweat than risk a sliced finger.

If you ever stumble across a disposable glove that doesn’t turn into confetti after a day, I’d be interested too. Until then, I guess it’s just part of the job—one more thing to toss in the truck at the end of the week.
