Yeah, I hear you on the liquid rubber stuff. Tried it on my porch roof last August—went on smooth, looked promising, but once we hit that first 100-degree week, it started bubbling and peeling. Honestly, nothing seems to bond well to old shingles in this heat. Roofing cement with mesh is ugly but at least it doesn’t just melt off. At this point, I just patch what I can and cross my fingers until the weather cools down enough for a real repair.

- Yeah, liquid rubber just doesn’t hold up in real heat—seen it fail on a few properties, especially south-facing roofs.
- Roofing cement with mesh is ugly, but honestly, it’s the only thing that’s stuck for me during peak summer.
- For quick patches, I’ve had some luck with aluminum tape on small cracks—nothing pretty, but it’ll buy you a few weeks.
- Old shingles are just tough. Sometimes I’ll lay a tarp and weigh it down if storms are coming and I can’t get a crew out.
- Honestly, nothing’s perfect till temps drop below 90... everything else is just damage control.

- Tarp squad checking in... nothing says “temporary fix” like blue plastic and bricks, right?
- I’ve tried that spray-on stuff too. Might as well use whipped cream when it’s 100 out—just melts right off.
- Roofing cement is ugly but yeah, it’s about the only thing that’s actually stayed put for me mid-July.
- Anyone else ever use duct tape in a pinch? I know it’s not “professional,” but desperate times...
- Honestly, if the sun’s cooking your roof, it feels like everything just turns to soup up there.

Duct tape on a roof in July? Tried it once—lasted about as long as an ice cube in the sun. I swear, I watched it slowly peel up like it was trying to escape. Tarp and bricks are my go-to, but only if I can get up there before the wind does its thing. Has anyone actually had luck with that spray-on stuff when it's not 100 degrees out? For me, it just made a sticky mess. Maybe I'm missing a trick...

Tried the spray-on stuff last fall, thinking it’d be a quick fix for a couple of sneaky leaks. Honestly, it just sort of gummed up and never really sealed anything—plus, it was a pain to clean off later. I ended up using one of those blue tarps with some heavy rocks, like you said, and that actually held up until I could get someone out for repairs. Maybe the spray works better on smaller cracks or cooler days, but for me, it was just a sticky mess.
