I'm about to sign a roofing contract and I'm kinda stuck between two options. One contractor gave me exact dates for starting and finishing the job, like literally "we'll start June 10th and finish by June 14th." The other one is more laid-back, saying something along the lines of "we'll start around mid-June and it'll take about 4-5 days, weather permitting."
I get why exact dates seem appealing—it's nice to know exactly when they'll be here and when they'll be gone. But the flexible approach also makes sense since, you know, weather can be unpredictable and delays happen. I don't wanna be sitting around frustrated if they're late because of rain or something.
Has anyone else gone through this? I'm leaning toward the flexible window, but part of me wonders if exact dates might hold them more accountable. Curious what you guys think or if you've had experiences (good or bad) with either approach.
I went flexible on mine last year and honestly, glad I did. Storm rolled in right when they were supposed to start...would've been super frustrated if I'd locked in exact dates. Just my two cents though, every situation's different.
