Green roofs are interesting, but I’ve seen mixed results depending on the building and climate. Around here, most folks stick with regular membrane or metal because of the freeze-thaw cycles. I’ve had a few clients try living roof sections, and while they do help with drainage visibility, they can add weight and need their own kind of upkeep. Personally, I check my own shop’s roof every spring and fall—caught a split seam last year before it turned into a real headache. Twice a year’s a solid habit, especially with all the weird weather lately.
