Cleaning Gutters & Installing Gutter Guards

I used to dread heavy rains because my gutters would overflow like crazy, spilling water everywhere and making a muddy mess around the house. Anyway, my neighbor suggested putting in these cheap little gutter guards—basically mesh screens that snap right on top. Took me maybe an hour tops to install, and now rainwater actually flows where it's supposed to instead of flooding my flower beds. Curious if anyone else has tried something different or has another handy trick...
